Changes to Automatic Payments in India FAQ

 

Due to new banking regulations in India, some payment providers no longer support recurring payments. Beginning October 1, 2021, If you signed up for Skillshare with a credit or debit card issued in India for a recurring membership, you must re-verify your payment method via two-factor authentication with your bank and authorize the subscription charge to continue your Skillshare membership. You’ll be notified by your bank at least 24 hours prior to being charged, with the option to cancel or continue subscribing to Skillshare. As the charge is less than 5,000 INR, no further action is needed. 

 

How can I continue my membership if I paid with a credit card? 

When your subscription renewal date is approaching, you will receive an email from Skillshare asking you to  fill out an e-mandate in order to continue your membership.

 

What is an e-mandate?

An e-mandate is an agreement between card users and merchants and allows merchant enables automatic recurring payments on your card.

 

What if my credit card payment has already failed?

Skillshare and our payment provider, Stripe, are not actively declining your payments or causing card verification to fail. Our payment processor, Stripe, will send you an email notification to let you know that your payment has failed. You can follow the steps in this email to comply with the e-mandate and continue your Skillshare membership. If you continue to experience issues with your payment, please consult your bank for details on how to give consent to charge your payment method as this process is not handled via Skillshare. 

 

How can I check when my membership is renewing? 

  1. Log into your Skillshare account
  2. Go to your Account Settings by clicking on your profile icon in the top right corner of any page
  3. From there, select the Payments tab for more information about your membership

 

What are the payment options for new customers in India? 

At this time, we are only accepting payments for new memberships via PayTM or UPI. We continue to evaluate our payment options for new and existing customers in India.

 

Skillshare cancelled my recurring membership at the end of my annual billing period. How can I resubscribe to a recurring membership?

We are working on updating our systems so that you will be able to resubscribe to a recurring membership at the end of your annual billing period. Our team will be in touch closer to the renewal date with details on how to do this.

 

Can I pay via PayPal?

PayPal is not currently accepting payments from users in India, so we are unable to offer PayPal as a payment option at this time.
