How do I start a new class draft?

When you start the process of uploading your class content through our class upload tool, a “class draft” is automatically created and saved to your account. You can continue editing your class draft over time and publish it to the platform whenever you’re ready.

If you’ve never started a class draft and have never published a class to Skillshare, you’ll need to sign up and be approved to teach before you can start your first class draft. If you’re interested in signing up to teach, we recommend checking out this article, Skillshare’s Sign Up Process for First-Time Teachers. To sign up, head to skillshare.com/teach and click the green Sign Up button.

Once you’ve been approved to teach, here are the steps to start a class draft:

  1. Log in to Skillshare with your teaching credentials and navigate to Creator Hub.
  2. In the left-hand menu, select Create a Class.

Your new class draft will open on the next screen with a default title — "My Class." You can start uploading your class content now or return to it later — your draft will be saved to your account. To retrieve it, refer to our article Where can I find my class draft?.

If the button is not visible, this means that you are either not signed into your Skillshare account or are not currently approved to teach.

Please note that Skillshare may not support video files in draft or closed classes older than 90 days. We always recommend ensuring that your class video files are saved elsewhere on your computer or an external hard drive if you plan to make updates to a Skillshare class or publish it later.
