What is a Skillshare Profile?
When you create an account on Skillshare a profile page will be automatically created for you and populated with your first and last name — the same information associated with your Skillshare account.
You can customize your profile to showcase your work and activity as a student or teacher on Skillshare. If you're curious on what content to place on your profile, check out What should I add to my Skillshare profile?. Teachers should review our article Build Your Brand Through Your Teacher Profile for the best tips on optimizing your profile for your future students.
By default your profile is visible to all members on Skillshare and indexed in web search results. You can change these settings by changing your settings; review How do I make my profile private? for instructions.
Edit Your Basic Information
In the left-hand side menu you can add or edit the basic information you share on your Skillshare profile, including:
- A profile image.
- Your first and last name.
- Your headline, which is a one-line biography that summarizes your brand.
- Social links, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube channel, or Github.
- A link to your personal website.
To edit your profile:
- Click on your account icon on the top right of your screen, and select View Profile.
- On your profile page, click the grey Edit Profile button to begin editing.
- Once you have completed editing your profile, click the green Save and Exit button at the top of the screen to save your changes.
Add and Rearrange Profile Sections
Add sections to your profile to display and organize what information you’re sharing with your audience. The profile page offers several different section types:
- Content: Display any written text, links, images or embedded videos hosted on YouTube or Vimeo.
- Projects: Showcase projects you’ve completed in a class on Skillshare or outside of our community too.
- Teaching (teachers only): Displays all the live, published classes you’re teaching on Skillshare.
- Discussions (teachers only): Post general discussions to your followers.
Add, arrange, and title sections however you’d like to demonstrate your interests and expertise!
To add a section:
- On your profile page, click the grey Edit Profile button to begin editing.
- Scroll down to the bottom of your profile and click +Add Section.
- Select the type of section you’d like to add.
- Add an optional title.
- Click the green Save and Exit button at the top of the page to save your changes.
To rearrange sections, use the arrow keys beside the section title to change its position on your profile. To delete a section, click the trash can icon beside the title.
Also, keep in mind that new projects, classes, and discussions get added to the bottom of a section by default, so to maximize visibility on newer content, click and drag it to the top of the section.
Add and Rearrange Profile Content
For Content Sections, click under the title to begin adding text or copy and paste formatted text directly into that field. To format text, highlight the content with your cursor to bring up the formatting menu.
You can also embed rich media within a Content Section. Use the buttons at the bottom of the Content Section to upload an image from your computer, a video link from YouTube or Vimeo, or an external URL.
For Project, Teaching, and Discussion sections, use the shortcut button to create new content directly in that field. You can rearrange published content within a section, or between identical sections.
Archive Profile Content
If you’d like to hide projects from your profile, drag and drop the content into the Project Archive section at the bottom of the page. Similarly, as a teacher, you can hide a published class from your profile by dragging it to the Teaching Archive. These classes will still be visible in the catalog.
