If a class video is taking a long time to process or shows an Upload Error, check your video settings, file type, network connection, and browser. Uploading one video at a time can also help prevent processing and upload issues.
If your video is stuck processing
Videos uploaded to your class draft are re-encoded so they can play on Skillshare. Processing can take some time, especially for larger files.
If your video shows Processing for longer than 30 minutes:
- Refresh your browser while you’re in the Class Creator tool to check the latest processing status.
- If the status doesn’t change, open Skillshare in a new browser window or tab, and return to your class draft.
- When uploading additional lessons, upload one video at a time to help prevent videos from getting stuck in processing.
If you see an Upload Error
An Upload Error can happen for several reasons. Try these troubleshooting steps:
- Check your export settings. Make sure your video matches Skillshare’s recommended recording and export settings.
- Check your internet connection. A weak network connection can affect upload speed.
- Upload one video at a time. Uploading several videos at once may cause a system timeout.
- Make sure your video is in the right file type. While the platform accepts .mp4, .mov, and .avi files, we recommend .mp4 for the fastest upload speed without compromising quality.
- Try another browser, preferably Google Chrome or Firefox.
- Clear your browser’s cache or cookies, then try uploading the video again.
Make sure each video has uploaded and processed successfully before submitting your class for review.
Tips for smoother uploads
Before uploading your class, check that your videos follow Skillshare’s recommended export settings and that your network connection is stable. Uploading lessons one at a time may also help prevent both upload errors and videos getting stuck in processing.
