Promote Your Digital Product

Unlock the potential of your digital product! Getting the word out about it early and often is key to reaffirming its value with your audience and making sales.

In this article:

Start With a Strong Product Listing

Before you promote your product anywhere else, make sure your product page is doing its job: catching attention and clearly communicating value.

Cover Images & Visuals

A clean, eye-catching image helps your product stand out in search results — on Skillshare and beyond. You can now add multiple images and video to showcase different aspects of your product, like what’s included, how it works, or what results it can create.

That means your main cover image can focus on being visually appealing, while additional visuals handle the details. For tips and examples, check out Use Visuals to Show Off Your Digital Product.

Title & Description

Your product listing should speak directly to your audience:

  • Title: Be clear and specific about what it is and who it’s for.
  • Description: Sell the value. Highlight what’s included, who it helps, and what makes it useful. Use persuasive language to connect with your ideal buyer.

Where to Promote Your Digital Product

Until digital products are fully integrated into teacher profiles and class pages, you still have plenty of ways to get your product in front of the right audience. The key: promote it in the spaces you already use to connect with your students and followers.

Here are our top tips (and teacher-tested examples) for where and how to promote:

In Your Skillshare Classes

You can absolutely add a link to your digital product on your class’s About page, or in the Projects & Resources section. Here’s some suggested messaging:

  • "If you want to use the exact [creative tools] I'm using in this class, you can purchase them on Skillshare by clicking the link below.”
  • “I’m excited to see your projects and what you create in this class! If you’re interested in purchasing digital prints of my final product, you can do so here.”
Just remember: while digital products can be promoted within a class, they’re separate from class content — and should be treated as standalone offerings.

On Your Teacher Profile

Add a content section to highlight your products. Keep it friendly and personal. Try language like:

  • “These are tools I use in my own creative practice and now you can purchase them directly on Skillshare.”
  • "Purchasing here helps to support my creative work."

On YouTube

YouTube is a powerful way to demo your product and drive interest. Tutorials that show your product in action often lead to higher sales — make sure your product is linked in the video description!

A few examples:

While purchasing a digital product can't be required as part of a Skillshare class, seeing a product in action is key for users to understand its value and proper use. Plus it gives a more compelling reason for purchasing it to keep learning!

A video tutorial is a great way to launch a product and show it in action! Top Teacher Mel Armstrong posted a video tutorial on her YouTube channel to coincide with the launch of her new Procreate brush pack on Skillshare. She added the link to the brush pack in the video description.

On Social Channels

Add links in your bios, post about your product, and cross-promote your classes and digital goods.
Try this suggested messaging:

  • "Want the brushes I'm using in this video? You can buy them on Skillshare."
  • “You can buy this [creative tool] on Skillshare and get a free 30 day trial of the membership where you can access all of my classes on [a technique or app].”

Leverage your social profiles! On Top Teacher Anna Sokolova’s Instagram bio, she drops a mention of her digital products alongside the class learning opportunities she has available on Skillshare.

In a Discussion Post or Email Newsletter

Whether you’re using Skillshare’s built-in discussion feature to send a message to your followers, a class discussion post, or an email, sharing your digital product is a great way to get the word out!

Here’s an awesome example of how to promote both your digital product and class together:
Top Teacher Fatih Mıstaçoğlu used the Discussion feature from his teacher profile to showcase his digital art prints now on sale, while redirecting students to the class where they can learn how to make their own in a similar style.
Connect the dots for your audience. Leveraging your digital products as an entry point to your classes and vice versa is a great way to build a flywheel of interest between all of your offerings on Skillshare.

Launch a Purpose-Built Short Class

Instead of tacking a digital product on to an existing class, make a new short form class on Skillshare to showcase a digital product! Short form classes can be between 2 and 15 minutes in length, and while they don’t need a formal introduction video or conclusion, you do need to add a project.

Keep in mind that digital products are distinct from class resources. So while you can promote digital products in a class, purchasing a digital product must not be required to complete a class on Skillshare.

Top Teacher Esther Nariyoshi recently launched a series of short surface pattern classes that each link to relevant digital products and brushes used. The project in each class (a simple drawing project) has an obvious and complementary connection to what she offers as digital products (primarily Procreate brushes). We love this way of creating ongoing value for students with short-form content that has a natural upsell to digital products.
