Sunsetting Superpeer as a Standalone Site (December 2024)

We wanted to give teachers a heads up about an upcoming change at Skillshare: we will be sunsetting Superpeer as a standalone site in preparation for migrating key features into the Teacher Hub on Skillshare. We plan to sunset the standalone version of Superpeer by December 31, 2024.

Looking ahead, we’re excited to streamline this experience for our teachers so you can continue to offer more than classes in our community and to remove the necessity in having two separate accounts. We prepared this list of frequently asked questions so teachers have a better idea of what to expect over the coming months.

Why did Skillshare make this decision to sunset Superpeer?

Our main goal with acquiring Superpeer was to enable Skillshare teachers with a suite of tools that enabled you to run your business from one place. Therefore, after careful consideration, we have made the decision to transition away from the standalone Superpeer platform by streamlining these businesses and subsequently sunsetting the parts of Superpeer that are a lower priority for this longterm vision. This shift aligns with our evolving strategy and enables us to focus our resources on delivering even more value in other areas.

Our long term goal remains to integrate valuable tools into the Skillshare teaching experience to benefit teachers, our members and the overall business. We look forward to sharing details on that plan once they are solidified.

How will this change affect my teaching experience on Skillshare?

At this time, there is no change to your day-to-day teaching experience on Skillshare. Right now, our product team is working on integrating 1-on-1 Sessions and digital products — including setup, messaging, discount codes, and payments for those offerings — into the Teacher Hub so you’ll be able to solely manage any 1-on-1 or product you’re selling in one place. We’re expecting to complete this migration in early 2025, after we sunset the standalone Superpeer site.

In the meantime, you will still be able to manage your existing 1-on-1 and digital product offerings, and launch new ones by logging into your Superpeer account. The experience for your students will not change, and you do not need to do anything to continue to receive payment for those offerings.

We’ll share an announcement when the migration of these features to the Teacher Hub is complete. We’re excited to streamline this part of your business and make it easier for you to launch and manage new offerings alongside your Skillshare classes.

When will these features be visible in the Teacher Hub on Skillshare?

We’re expecting to complete this migration in early 2025, after we sunset the standalone Superpeer site. We’ll share an announcement when the migration of these features to the Teacher Hub is complete.

I’m a Skillshare teacher and I’m currently using a Superpeer feature that’s not integrated into Skillshare at present, i.e. streams or subscriptions. What will happen to the service I’m offering?

At this time, our priority is integrating 1-on-1 Sessions and digital products into the Teacher Hub. While we may integrate other features into Skillshare in the future, we don’t have plans for this or a timeline we can share at this time.

Any Superpeer features that are not integrated into Skillshare right now will no longer be available after December 31, 2024. These include: channel subscriptions, including any 1-on-1 Sessions or digital products you’re offering as a benefit attached to a subscription; streams; series; and newsletters. If you’re currently using non-integrated features on Superpeer, please review the FAQ in the Superpeer Help Center for next steps on backing up your content or finding an alternative tool by December 31, 2024.

How can I continue to offer a free digital product on Skillshare?

Since a digital product listed on Skillshare needs to have a price associated with it, you can create a 100% off discount code for that product so it can be offered for free. For more information on discount codes, check out How do I create a discount code?

What will happen to my Superpeer profile page and links to individual Superpeer services?

Since we are sunsetting the public version of the Superpeer platform, your Superpeer profile, Superpeer widgets, and any direct links to individual 1-on-1 Sessions or digital products on Superpeer will no longer be visible or available after December 31, 2024. To ensure your audience has continued access to your offerings, please update your links to point to Skillshare:

  • For digital products, use the product page URL on Skillshare.
  • For 1-on-1 Sessions, link to your teacher profile page on Skillshare.

How will I get paid for 1-on-1 Sessions and digital products I offer on Skillshare?

We are working to integrate the payment system currently in place on Superpeer into the Teacher Hub. For the time being, payments for your Skillshare offerings will be handled by two separate systems: Tipalti for earnings from Skillshare classes and referrals, and Wise for any payments related to digital products and 1-on-1 Sessions. But you’ll be able to access settings for both from the Teacher Hub.

We’re still evaluating when we’ll combine both payment systems; we’ll share more when those details are confirmed!

Moving forward, what can I expect in terms of the revenue share for 1-on-1 Sessions and digital products?

Moving into 2025, we anticipate continuing with the same revenue share structure: apply a 10% platform fee plus applicable transaction fees for each digital product purchased or 1-on-1 Session booked on Skillshare. Keep in mind that as we establish and evolve this offering on Skillshare over time the revenue share may change. We’ll communicate any changes with you in advance. Take a look at our dedicated article, How do I receive payment for services I offer on Superpeer?, for details on Superpeer’s payout provider, fees, and payout process.
