Where can I find information on my performance and earnings on Skillshare?

In this article:

Teacher Stats

You can navigate to your Teacher Stats dashboard directly from the Creator Hub.

Teacher Stats shows information related to class performance on your Skillshare channel overall, including:

  • The total number of earnings, students, minutes watched, and reviews across all of your classes.
  • Your estimated earnings for the current month.
  • Charts displaying minutes watched and the number of students over time across all of your classes.
  • A month-by-month earnings breakdown since you started teaching on Skillshare.

Your Teacher Stats dashboard shows your pre-tax earnings. The payment you receive via Tipalti each month may look different than what you see on your Teacher Stats dashboard, depending on any tax withholdings. To learn more about tax withholding, review the article Will I be taxed on my Skillshare earnings?.

The estimated amount shown on your dashboard depends on what day you access it:
  • In the first half of a given month (the 1st through the 15th), the dashboard will display your upcoming estimated earnings that will be sent to you on the 16th of the month for the previous month’s activity.
  • In the second half of a given month (the 16th through the last day of the month), the dashboard will display your estimated month-to-date earnings based on the current month's activity.

Referral Stats

You can navigate to your Referral Stats dashboard directly from the Creator Hub.

Your Referrals dashboard shows details on your referrals. On this dashboard you can retrieve your general referral link — share this link with your audience to promote all of your Skillshare classes and earn referral revenue at the same time! For ideas on how to leverage your general (and class) referral links, head to our article Optimize Teacher Referrals.

Your Referrals dashboard shares two sets of data, which are accessed from two separate tabs:

Earnings History

Here we show your total earnings from referrals in aggregate at the top, as well as a breakdown of monthly earnings, net of refunds. Referral earnings prior to April 1, 2022, reflect the referral program that was previously in place, and so no amounts are shown in those columns.

Referral History

Your Referral History displays a list of your most recent referrals (up to 5000) since you began referring new members as a Skillshare teacher. For each referral, we share the following:

  • Start Date: The date the referred student created their account and started their trial.
  • Status: The current status of a referral. All successful referrals, that is, referrals where the student has paid for an annual or monthly membership, are marked Paid. A referral Status can change, however, e.g., if the user paid but later received a refund. Referrals marked other than Paid means the referral is in progress or was terminated — you do not receive payment on those referrals. A full glossary of Status types is below.
  • Plan Type: designates whether the referred student signed up for an annual or monthly membership. New referred students that sign up for a monthly membership are displayed in your Referral History just once, but your share of their monthly payments for the first 12 months of their subscription will be included in your total earnings.
  • Referral Link: Whether the referral was generated from a class or general referral link.
  • Traffic Source: The source where the referral link was clicked.
  • Geography: The country in which the member initially registered their Skillshare account.

As a teacher, you can download all of your Referral History data as a .csv file by clicking Export CSV.

Keep in mind that a referral’s Status is not static and may change, depending on where they are in their journey. Here’s a quick glossary to those Status types:

Paid: We successfully completed a transaction for an annual or monthly membership; these are the referrals that you earn referral earnings from, unless the referred student later seeks and is given a refund.

Trial: The referred student is currently in a free trial.

Cancelled: The referred student canceled their subscription before the end of the free trial.

Refunded: The referred student paid for a membership, but received a refund. Teachers do not earn referral revenue on refunded transactions.

Failed: Skillshare attempted to process a payment for the referred student but the transaction did not go through.

Individual Class Stats

Each live class that you’re currently teaching also has its own stats dashboard where you can view:

  • The total lifetime stats for an individual class, including visitors, students, minutes watched, and number of reviews.
  • Charts displaying minutes watched and the number of students over time across all of your classes.
  • A table that summarizes your most recent data along the timeframe you select — days, weeks, or months.

To view class stats on an individual class:

  1. Navigate to the student or public-facing view of the class.
  2. Open the left toolbar by clicking on the gear button in the bottom left corner of the screen.
  3. Click View Stats on the left side toolbar.
You can view your class data by days, weeks, or months by toggling between the links at the top of the Minutes Watched or Students charts on this dash; the view will automatically update for all charts, including the summary table at the bottom. To see additional or all-time data in this table, click the See More button at the bottom.

Payment History

Skillshare uses two separate systems to manage payments to teachers — Tipalti for class and referral payments, and Wise for any payments related to 1-on-1s or digital products — but both are managed directly in Creator Hub.

To view details on previous payments, navigate to Creator Hub and select Payment in the left hand navigation.

From the Class Payment tab, view previous class royalty and referral payments by clicking Payment History.

From the Shop Payment tab, you can:

  • View details for pending payments for digital product sales or 1-on-1 bookings completed less than 14 days ago.
  • View details for payments that are ready to withdraw from your account.
  • View any finalized withdrawals from your account to your bank account on file with Wise.
